11am: we have our Parish Holy Communion with prayers for healing and wholeness
This week, our Sunday morning service will follow the familiar structure of Holy Communion with an overarching theme of healing.
After receiving the bread and wine (or a blessing), there will be an opportunity to receive a short prayer for healing, and anointing with oil.
There will be no obligation to receive these elements of ministry - the service has put together in a way that will enable everyone to feel comfortable and included in Sunday morning worship.
and then:4pm: A Special service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance

You are warmly invited to our Spring Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance on Sunday 31st May at 4pm.
This short, reflective service offers us a gentle space to give thanks for the lives of those we have loved and lost — whether recently or many years ago
For our Spring gathering, we'll hopefully be gathering outside in the Garden of Remembrance, unless it's raining and then we'll move to the church.
After the service, everyone is invited to stay for tea and delicious cake.
Last Sunday we celebrated Pentecost — the moment an invisible helper showed up and changed everything for a group of frightened, hiding people.
With the help of some rather misbehaving balloons, we explored what it might look like for that same Spirit to breathe courage and life into our own situations today.
We wrote those situations on balloons to take home — with an invitation to blow them up this week as we prayed: Come, Holy Spirit.
If you couldn't make it this morning, why not try it at home?
We were also so glad to mark Saturday night's confirmation of Clare and Evie with the whole congregation this morning.
And finally, special mention to the younger members of the congregation who read and deaconed today — what a fantastic job they did.
A truly Spirit-filled day!

This year, St Albans Diocese invites us all to embark on a journey of reconnecting with our faith and discovering the renewing life of the Holy Spirit. There’s a wonderful new website full of opportunities, including retreats, quiet days (some specially for churchwardens), pilgrimage walks, talks, online accompanied prayer weeks, courses, and a special summer Cathedral celebration.
You’ll also find resources for prayer, as well as helpful guidance to care for your own wellbeing.
Why not take a look? You can book events directly, but if something catches your eye and you’d like some company, let us know, and we can see if others would like to join in too.

Nigel will arrange to take our offerings to the New Zion church every Wednesday morning.St John’s school currently has a vacancy for a Foundation Governor. Foundation Governors are nominated by the PCC, represent the Church of England on the Board, and help ensure that the Christian ethos of the school is maintained.
Please pray and think about whether you - or someone you know - would make a great governor. They don’t need to be a member of St John’s church, but would need to be able to fulfil the role description above.
As a governor myself, I promise you that it’s an extremely rewarding (and often fun) role, and is manageable alongside other responsibilities.
Please contact me if you’re interested.
